This pump wave has k_0≐̸0 (non-dipole approximation) and ω_0≃2Ω_0,Ω_0 being the ion Larmor frequency in a static magnetic field B_0. Here, k_0⊥B_0 is assumed for simplicity. In this stituation, the waves propagating in the direction B_0×k_0 are found to be most favorably excited.
