C. R. to the secondary circuit and controlling the firing phase angle of its current, or not. This paper is the report about it. At the first step, we chose the method of controlling the semi-arm elements of the 3 phase bridge connection. By this method, the speed is able to be changed widely but there is an unstable range at a little under the slip 1/3. A series of harmonics are resulted by controlling the firing phase angle of the secondary current, the 2nd harmonic is the most powerful in them. This 2nd harmonic brings the unevenness on the speed-torque curve before and bihind the point of slip 1/3. This is the cause for unstable range. At the second step, we chose the next method to improve this defect. That is, the secondary winding of the induction motor was connected in the form of Y, and drawn out the neutral wire. The S. C. R. in inverse-parallel are inserted between the each phase winding and the neutral wire. In this method, as the current wave is the half wave symmetry, the secondary current contains only odd harmonics, and the influence of the parasitic torque due to harmonics is little, then the speed of the motor is able to be changed smoothly and widely. In these methods, the efficiency of the motor is the same order compare with the resistance control method, we cann't expect to improve it. But, they are advantageous to change the speed with the easy process and to apply the automatic speed control with the more easy method than the others.
