The survey targets were chosen from the nurse training school list. Surveys were sent to624schools, and responses were received from a total of273-198nursing schools with three-year curriculums, seven schools with two-year curriculums, 29colleges with three-year curriculums, six colleges with two-year curriculums, and 28 universities of nursing science. The results showed that 53.1% of the schools have full-time instructors in mental health nursing science practice. Their programs include daily visits to clinical settings. This indicates that many schools develop their own practicum programs locally. Therefore, our most urgent task is to develop full-time teachers for mental health nursing science. Given the present state of mental health care, it seems that such local practicum plans could be implemented at all schools.
