| 内容記述 | It has been well documented that the English language learning environment differs, sometimes considerably, between the Western and Asian classroom. With a particular focus on the British and Japanese classrooms, the researchers were interested to discover which setting a group of Japanese university students preferred. An analysis was made of the group`s experiences on a study abroad programme to a university in the U.K. and compared to their experiences at a university in Japan. The findings indicated that the group tended to prefer the British style. Particular mention was made of the active rather than the passive style of learning, the variety of materials, and the opportunities presented to use, and therefore reinforce, what they had learned. Possible changes to the Japanese style of teaching, including the instructors using more English in class, the diversification of classroom materials and the facilitation of opportunities to use newly acquired language in a practical way, are suggested. | |||||||||||||||
